The bamboo bridges are one of Luang Prabang's iconic sights. They are built by local family every year to make the journey from the old quarters of Luang Prabang to the main markets on the other side easier.
While they look a bit insecure, they are actually remarkably steady. Bamboo is actually a very strong material ,even 2 to 3 times stronger than most timbers. They are incredibly constructed with only ropes holding them together. No nails, concrete or steel here...

It felt a bit wobbly when we walk on them but after a short while, we got use to it... its pretty strong.

crossing the bamboo bridge
,
There are 2 bamboo bridges , one is at the mouth of Nam Khan River, is perfect for Lao incredible sunsets.

The other bridge is about 600m upstream, at the bottom of Mt Phousi, which dominates this part of Luang Prabang and one road across from Sakkaline Road, which is where the main Alms Giving Ceremony takes place at sunrise.
